First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn Agra MG Road an IHG Hotel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Holiday Inn. The lobby feels surprisingly upscale for the brand — I mean, we’re talking about a five-star property here, which honestly caught me off guard at first. The marble floors and contemporary Indian artwork create this elegant atmosphere that somehow manages to feel both luxurious and welcoming. You know what really struck me? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, not just going through the motions.
Location & Getting Around
The Sanjay Place location is actually brilliant if you know Agra well. You’re tucked into this commercial complex that locals frequent, so you get a real taste of the city beyond just tourist spots. The Taj Mahal is close enough that you won’t spend half your day in traffic, but you’re not stuck in that touristy bubble either. What I loved most was having authentic restaurants and shops right at your doorstep — the kind of places where you’ll see families celebrating birthdays, not just tour groups. Plus, there’s parking available, which honestly saves you a headache in this busy part of town.
The Room Experience
My room was spacious by Indian hotel standards, with floor-to-ceiling windows that actually opened (rare these days). The bed was properly comfortable — not too soft, not too firm — and the air conditioning worked like a dream, which you’ll definitely appreciate during Agra’s sweltering summers. The bathroom felt modern and clean, with good water pressure that didn’t fluctuate every few minutes. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains; they’re thick enough to block out the early morning street activity when you want to sleep in.
Dining & Breakfast
The breakfast buffet surprised me with its variety — they’ve got the usual continental options, but the Indian spread is where they really shine. Fresh parathas, perfectly spiced dal, and this amazing selection of South Indian dishes that change daily. The restaurant staff seemed to know exactly when to refill the hot items, so nothing sat around getting soggy. What impressed me most was how they handled dietary restrictions; the vegetarian options weren’t just afterthoughts but genuinely delicious dishes that even meat-eaters were gravitating toward.
Why Guests Love It
Couples consistently rate this place highly, and after staying here, I totally get why. There’s something about the atmosphere that feels romantic without being overly formal — maybe it’s the rooftop views or the way the evening lighting creates this warm ambiance throughout the property. The service strikes that perfect balance where staff are attentive but not hovering. You feel pampered without feeling watched, if that makes sense. For the price point in Agra’s luxury hotel market, you’re getting genuine five-star treatment without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with it.

The food was just amazing ! Breakfast and dinner was superb and thanks to chef. Service staff was also amazing, Kirti, Muskan to name a few, and some of the guys, which I am sorry to say forgot their names. Travel desk was also helpful in arranging my tour to Agra and Fatehpur Sikri and also my trip to Jaipur. Thanks to Adnan for arranging this...

The room was good and the pool was not busy and quaint. Cleanliness, especially in the toilet could be better.
