First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel City Inn, you’ll notice it’s positioned right across from Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station — and I mean right across. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it isn’t, but what it does, it does well. The building has that practical, no-nonsense feel you’d expect from a business hotel, though the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable. You know what struck me most? How quiet it actually is inside, despite being so close to the railway tracks.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying near Varanasi Cantt — you’re slightly removed from the main tourist chaos of the ghats, which can honestly be a blessing after a long day of sightseeing. The railway station location means you can literally walk to catch trains to other cities, and there’s something reassuring about not having to navigate Varanasi traffic with heavy luggage. The Parade Kothi area has a more residential feel, with local shops and eateries nearby that most tourists never discover. Getting to the main city takes about 15-20 minutes by auto-rickshaw, depending on traffic.
The Rooms
The rooms at Hotel City Inn are what I’d call sensibly designed — clean lines, decent space, and everything you actually need without unnecessary frills. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the air conditioning works reliably, which matters more than you might think in Varanasi’s heat. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, enough power outlets, and blackout curtains that actually block out light. The bathrooms are compact but well-maintained, with hot water that comes quickly.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here pleasantly surprised me — they offer both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on your mood or schedule. The continental spread includes fresh fruit, cereals, and decent coffee (not amazing, but definitely drinkable). The buffet leans toward Indian dishes, and honestly, the parathas and local preparations are better than the Western attempts. I mean, when you’re in Varanasi, why not embrace the local flavors? The dining area gets good natural light in the mornings, making it a pleasant spot to plan your day.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is how it solves practical problems without pretending to be fancy. The free private parking is genuinely valuable — finding secure parking in Varanasi can be a headache, so having your own spot removes one worry entirely. Couples seem particularly drawn to the hotel, probably because it offers that sweet spot of privacy and convenience without breaking the budget. The staff knows the city well and can arrange reliable transport or suggest lesser-known spots worth visiting. It’s not trying to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel in town, but it delivers on the basics that actually matter when you’re exploring a city as intense as Varanasi.

Rohit
Benares is a very chaotic city. Taking your car beyond hotel city inn area, into the crowds is not feasible. Hence, City inn, just at the start of city and 10mins away from ghat acts as perfect spot to park your car and stay in a good hotel. You can expect the best food (clean, hygienic and tasty) in benares. Rooms are good, clean and staff...

The place is nearby to the varanasi junction so you can get easy access to transport and food. Gated parking is available and the staff are very polite and helpful. Breakfast is amazing.
