The proximity to Dudhwa National Park is the real draw here — you’re talking about a fifteen-minute drive to one of India’s most underrated tiger reserves. Most people don’t realize how accessible the park is from here, which keeps the crowds manageable compared to places like Ranthambore.

The Accommodation Experience

My room was this perfect blend of colonial elegance and modern comfort that IHCL does so well. The interiors have this heritage feel without being stuffy — think rich fabrics, dark wood furniture, and those little touches that remind you you’re somewhere special. The bathrooms are particularly impressive, with deep soaking tubs that I actually used (which says something). What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was — the thick walls and rural setting mean you’ll sleep better than you have in months.

The restaurant serves this interesting mix of local Awadhi cuisine alongside more familiar Indian dishes, and they source a lot of ingredients from the surrounding farms. I had some of the best dal I’ve ever tasted here — apparently they grow their own lentils. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working here, which you notice immediately. They’re knowledgeable about the area and can arrange everything from early morning safari drives to village walks that most guests never think to ask about. The service feels personal rather than scripted, probably because they’re not dealing with hundreds of guests like the big city hotels.
